Trying to install Intel RST version 13.1.0.1058. Keep getting OS system not supported error. What OS system is software looking at in order to determine if it is okay to install?

Trying to install Intel RST version 13.1.0.1058 software but keep getting OS system not supported error. Upgrading from version 11.0.0.1032. Had to abort first attempt at upgrade due to not shutting down process and service for current version first. After this started getting the above error. Suspect that maybe a registry was changed or something else because I have upgraded the software on other machines with same image and no issues. Can someone tell me what exactly the software is looking at to determine what operating system and version are being used to validate instalaation? Below are the computer and operating system being used:

HDD click (excessive load-unload cycles)

Two of my HDDs are clicking and have an excessive load-unload cycles.

I'm running 2x Samsung F3 1TB (HD103SJ) in RAID-0 using Z97 chipset Sata 3 ports.

My MB is a ASRock Z97 Extreme6, HDDs firmware is 1AJ10001. MB Bios is P1.33.

I had 13.1.0.1058 RST driver and installed 12.9.2.1000 but the issue persisted.

I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit running on a Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD, I also have two more HDDs, one Seagate 3TB and one Toshiba 160GB... No issues with these drives.

On my previous setup I was using these HDDs on a X58 chipset Sata 2 ports, also in RAID-0 mode, Intel RST 11 and got no issues.

I think the drives are going idle too fast, because when I need to open or seek for something on the drive, the click starts.

I don't know if this is a BIOS problem or a Intel RST problem, I don't know for sure, but when the computer starts, during post I can hear the click (only once, if I go to UEFI there is no click there and the drive is detected by BIOS).

I tried some troubleshoots, configured (advanced power management, automatic acoustic management, sata aggressive link power management, windows power management) but nothing worked : (

I'm kinda desperate because I have one "click" each 10 seconds (approximately), it means 3600 load-unload cycles in 10 hours!

For now I made the disks off-line through Windows disk management, until I figure out some solution/workaround.

I appreciate any help you can give!

UPDATE!

The problem was solved by installing Intel RST 12 series drivers, power off, disconnect the PSU cable, connect the affected hard drives on another Z97 Sata port and power on the computer.

If I install Intel RST 13 series driver the issue will return, is this a bug with RST 13 series? I don't think my HDD spending one load/unload cycle each 10 seconds is normal.

Hello,

trying to install the Intel Management Engine Interface always results in fatal errors during installation.

The version i have installed on my system is not the one my motherborad manufacturer provides.

Also the Intel VGA drivers wont install. I get the message that my PC doesn't fullfill the requirements.

Since my sound is not working properly I'm just asking if the IMEI has an impact on that.

PC Specs:  WIN 10

Suppress SMART event.

My Intel Rapid Storage Technology keeps showing a warning that I have to suppress SMART event,

never encountered that before, and once I do it says "my system is functioning normally", happens everytime I start up my computer, what could be the issue?

This started a few days ago,

at the same time when I had some updates from Microsoft.

Never ever had this problem before.

Intel RST 14.6 - BSOD after install

Hi everyone!

Having a pretty big issue with getting Intel RST 14.6 working on Win 10 x64 Pro.

My motherboard is an ASUS P6X58D-E with an ICH10R raid controller.

Have had no issues with RST on either Win 7 x64 or Win 8/8.1 x64 previously.

If I attempt to upgrade my Win 8.1 install - it fails due to the RST driver already being present. If I do a clean install of Win 10 it works until I install the RST software.

As soon as I do that I get a repeating BSOD with STOP 7B - Inaccessible_Boot_Device.

I've tried the steps in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2795397 to no avail. I'm unable to even get into safe mode after installing the driver. The only resolution is to use system restore to roll back to prior installing the Intel driver.

If I use 8.1 with the 14.6 driver - no issues.

The issue also occurred with Intel RST 14.5 but was a bit more cryptic (it just did a BSOD with no information).

Any ideas on this issue?

Intel Matrix Storage Console 8.9 not working properly

$

I recently installed Windows 10. Under Win7 I was used to running Intel Matrix Storage Console and so I thought I needed it for Win10. At first it seemed to be working as when I would run the program it showed the green disk icons for RAID 0 and all of the available information to see for the RAID setup but now when I run it I keep getting plug-in errors.  It says that plug-in failed to load as no page allocated for it or something to that effect. Then another windows displays "driver not installed correctly".

My question is if I needed to install this software at all. I looked in to doing an uninstall of it and I get a warning saying that not all of the program can be uninstalled but only certain components of it. So I want to get advice here first on what I should do. Did I need to install this program in the first place? Did I make an error not installing IRST instead and should I install it now and will it remove the matrix storage console?

Device Manager says that the RAID 0 is working properly but I want to make sure I have the right RAID software installed. I just don't like to get or see errors after a clean install of any kind in the software.

Do I also need to install the chipset.inf software? When I run the Intel Driver Update Utility it doesn't come back with anything and seems, just keeps saying "searching" after I select "scan".

How to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology with Windows 10 clean install

Hello whoever is out there who can assist me,

My Windows 10 OS running Raid-1 and an older version of Rapid Storage Manager (RST) was running fine until the OS got corrupted/infected. I decided to perform a clean install of Windows 10. However I can't seem to get the user interface display for RST ver. 14.8.0.1042 to display after reloading the OS and running CLI_x64.zip.

I am not certain that the rstcli64.exe executed...the exe seemed to progress about 3/4 of the way to completion before hanging for over 2 hours. When I walked away and came back later, I did not see the progress bar and assumed that the app finished loading. However there is no Intel app on my app menu.

I assumed that the app did not load and double clicking on the rstcli64.exe no longer brought up an installation dialogue box. So I decided to reload the OS. I downloaded f6flpy-x64.zip and placed it on a USB stick where I unzipped the file. This USB stick was inserted into a USB 2.0 port along with another USB stick containing Windows 10 pro OS.

During the clean re-install of Windows 10 pro, I noticed that at no point in the OS installation was I prompted to install the contents of f6flpy-x64.zip (did I do something incorrectly? I guess I am saying that I really don't know how to install f6flpy-x64.zip prior to installing the OS. Can you provide instructions on how to install f6flpy-x64.zip?  Intel did not provide adequate instructions on how to load this file prior to loading the OS). And will properly installing f6flpy-x64.zip solve my problem of getting the user interface display for RST ver. 14.8.0.1042 to display after reloading the OS?

Please HELP. Thanks.

P.S., I have an ASUS Sabertooth Z77 mobo w/ an Intel i7 3770k cpu.

Convert RAID 0 to RAID 1 or non-RAID?

$

Hi I'm new to this community.

I'd like to know if there is any way to convert from RAID 0 to either RAID 1 or NON-RAID (and then eventually to RAID 1).

I am running Windows 10 with 2 - 1TB hard drives which are currently configured as RAID 0.

It's a DELL 8700 XPS desktop.

I'm also using Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.6.0.1033.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you.  Ron.

upgrading z77 to Z170->will i lose my raid array?

$

Hello,

I was a happy owner of a GA-Z170N-WIFI running 1 SSD for Windows7 OS + a Raid5 Array with 3x6TB just disks for datas which I just sold because it was time to upgrade to a GA-Z170N-WIFI motherboard, and now I'm worried to lose all my data stored in the 12GB volume of my Raid5 Array (of course i'm getting new cpu and DDR4 ram).

Are there any chances to lose my data? (I'm going to stick with Windows7 btw for now not interested in windows 8 or 10)

Do you think I will be able to have my data on the Raid5 Array recognized also by the new Z170 chipset or I might get in trouble with that?

I have already sold my GA-Z77N-WIFI motherboard together with the 3770K CPU and the 16GB DD3 RAM, plus there was no way I could backup 10TB of datas to any place, so please someone tell me there won't be any compatibility issues with the new chipset.

Thanx.

RAID rebuild failure

I have a problem with rebuilding a RAID1 array.

Recently my W8.1 setup (Gigabyte X58A-UD5 Motherboard) showed an error in Disk 1 on reboot - in the configuration utility.

I bought a new disk, thinking that would be the best approach, and began the rebuild from Disk 0 to Disk 1.

At what seemed to be the end of the process, and after trying to log in (W10 login screen), the machine rebooted - did it crash?

This time, the Disk 0 (which was the good on) showed an error.

I removed it from the array and am now running with my new disk (Disk 1) only, which seems to be ok and boots the machine.

Physical Disk 0, which was immediately placed "offline", and I changed to online (Signature Collision),  is now unusable. It can't be accessed.  But I should be able to format it as that option is available in Windows.

I have not removed the RAID array.  I want to rebuild it.

I haven't manually upgraded anything on this machine which is now nearly 4 years old.  The intel utility showed an upgrade for the chipset, but it failed to install.

The configuration utility is older, and seems to be the Intel Matrix Storage Manager - the system shows IC8H version SATA RAID controller, and the X58 chipset.

RSTCLI on Intel C600 series SAS RAID Controller

I have an Intel C600 series SAS RAID Controller with version 4.3.0.1223 drivers. I am trying to use RSTCLI to query the model and serial numbers of the attached drives. Unfortunately the model number does not seem to be reported correctly. For instance, where the model number displayed in the Intel Rapid Storage Technology enterprise GUI is "WDC WD1003FBYX-0" the model number displayed by RSTCLI is just "WDC". Obviously this isn't very helpful. Is it the space in the model number that is causing the problem? Is there a workaround?

Reset disk to non-RAID.... now gone

$

Hello, Following the advice of this thread RAID 0 Array shows as "Disabled" in Option ROM, No Windows Boot I reset Disk to non-raid in order to remove the "Disabled" status.

For a little background, I have a Dell Dimension 8700 XPS with a 32GB solid state. I'm obviously in over my head, but I thought the solid state was just supposed to enhance boot up speed, etc. On new years day, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software basically informed me that my main 2TB hard disk was failing, and then it crashed. Since getting a new hard drive installed and re-installing windows 7 64bit, I'm trying to get my system back to normal. (As seen in the first attachment below)

Attachment #2 is what I was seeing since reinstalling windows, post crash. Attachment #3 is some boot info from my BIOS.

So, I resetting the RAID volume to Non-Raid...it's gone (as was warned). How do I get it back? Is it important? My system still boots, and the IRST client within windows says my system is "functioning normally", but I want to ensure stability and optimize my RIG before I start re-installing all my programs etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Thank you for you rtime

Intel RST, 2 RAID1 Volumes, how to make second one bootable?

$

Hi, I have older Intel Server (Intel MBD - Xeon processor inside, Win2003 SRV Standard installed), recently one of the disks in RAID1 Volume (SATA Raid, Intel RST) is dropping out of sync, I power down Server, restart, disk comes up again and rebuild is performed. It works several days and then again same thing happens.

I lost confidence in that disk array so I decided to swap both disks but without need to reinstall complete server from the scratch! So I purchased 2 x 500GB disks, installed them and created new Array, named Array2 RAID1 in parallel, initialized it and with Acronis TrueImage made copy of all partitions from Array 1 (original disks) to Array 2(new disks). How to make Array 2 bootable so I can remove disks from Array 1 and continue only with Array 2?

Intel RST Email notify does not work

Hi,

Intel RST version 14.5.0.1081 on Q57 chipset board.

RAID email notify is enabled and configured.

Email send test works perfect, but when RAID events occurs no mail is send.

I noticed an error on eventviewer application registry that occurs after every IAStorDataMgrSvc regular event:

Event ID 1703 - Eventdata "Missing localized format string"

I don't know if that is related to email sending procedure.

Thanks,

Andrea

Difference between Intel Rapid Start Technology and Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Need Clarification

$

I had Intel Rapid Start Technology on my Dell XPS 18 AIO. I tried out Windows 10, didn't like it, and reverted back to Windows 8.1, at which point I had lost my Intel Rapid Start Technology. That really slowed start-up down. :-(

A Dell service technician finally found the way to get this back onto my system (wasn't easy or quick and took a number of unsuccessful attempts and service calls) but I notice now that he got "Rapid Storage Technology", not Rapid Start Technology on my system.

The chipset he put in my system was: Dell Update Package: Intel Rapid Start Technology, 3.0.0.1056, A01. . But when I open the technology, it only refers to itself as Rapid Storage Technology.

Is there a difference? Do I need to be concerned?

With thanks,

Nom J
