Rapid Storage Technology — RAID migration to new PC

I had a (non bootable) RAID1 on a previous motherboard.

I installed a new mobo, and want to reinstall the 2 drive RAID1 on the new mobo.

PC has Windows 10.

New mobo is Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4. BIOS version F12

I went into the BIOS and set SATA to RAID.

Then I went Peripherals tab and went to Intel Rapid Storage Technology, and created a RAID 1 volume with the 2 previous RAID 1 disks.

I then booted Windows, but Windows explorer does not see the RAID volume.

When I run the Intel rapid Storage Technology UI, it see the RAID volume, as well as the other installed SATA drives.

What do I need to do to get the RAID volume to be visible to Windows?

Thanks-

Steve

Problem finding drivers for ON board ichr9 raid cotroller!?

FIRST I like to say first WHO is gonna build a RAID in on board RAID controller using disks that each one has 35 C when is operating? only a student or someone that do not have enough money to buy a pcie ssd with raid and the stupid intel builds are over.

I have a raid 0 2 disks and a disk with the system installed just in case the raid 0 is blow up and i use arconics true image to clone the disk from the boot at the 3rd, to make a defrag using perfect disk, etc but my vista x64 ultimate are getting old and i can't find new drivers from Intel as they stopped supporting them so can i asked WHY? the utilities that are detecting the chipset are asking 'admin' privileges like we are in some Unix system with many terminals!?

Windows will never be a server build anyway so why are you doing our life so complicated?

USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Drivers won't install

My USB 3.0 ports are acting as USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 devices are not recognized on my Dell Latitude E6530. I have several USB 3.0 devices that I know work fine. When trying to install the latest USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family, I get an error pop up stating that "The setup program failed to install one or more devices drivers. Setup will exit" The downloaded drivers used were sourced from the Intel Download Center.....downloadcenter.intel.com/download/21129}. See Below and attachement.

I have had this problem (USB 3.0 ports not working) since installing another a new (used) motherboard into my laptop. Laptop specs below. From the displayed installation log, see attachment, it appears that both the USB 3.0 Root Hub and USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Drivers install, however the PCI bus driver does not. I have re-installed all the latest Dell chipset drivers again with the exception of the USB 3.0 Driver: Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver which I believe is the latest driver that fixes problems similar to mine. I have read many posts that lead me to this Dell Community post:  .....en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19495641 which ultimately points to installing the USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver directly from the Intel download center as mentioned above.

All other devices working perfectly on this Laptop.

I have exhausted all my resources to a point were I believe I may have a motherboard problem. Does anyone have any suggestions or answers to my predicament?

rapid storage not working with windows 8.1 on HP Elitebook 8570w

$

I've newly bought a HP Elitebook 8570w, which have 24Gb mSata ssd cache (intel 313).

I've installed windows 8.1 Update 1 and installed IRST 11.6.5.1006 which downloaded from HP's support page for my Elitebook moderm.

I turned on Smart Response Technology. After a while not responding, It turned out an error, and in the "Accelerate" tab, it showed that SSD Configuration 've been set to Cache device, but Accelerated device showed "None". When I click on Select device and choose my Hitachi HDD, Windows stop working with a BSOD "critical process died".

I searched on the internet and i've figured out that's IRST 11's bug and fixed in 12.9. I removed the old version and installed new one. But after all, the new version has no "Accelerate" tab, and I cannot do anything to turn on Smart Response.

I wonder if Intel can have an idea to fixed my error, or I must use Windows 7 forever in order to use my 24Gb mSata SSD?

Sorry for my bad English, thanks in advance.

New RST 14.0.0.1143 doesn't allow HDDs to spin down (bug?)

$

I installed the new RST 14.0.0.1143 on my Z87 Mainboard with Windows 8.1 yesterday. Since there are no F6 drivers yet, i started the setup and then looked in %temp%, and there were the familiar x86 and x64 folders, just like in the F6 drivers. So i updated the driver from there via the device manager.

Something i soon noticed was wrong: The HDDs didn't spin down anymore after the 30 minutes i defined in the power savings plan.

At first i thought there could be something wrong with the extracted F6 driver files, but the folder content matched with the previous F6 drivers, and there was nothing unusual in the INF files either, which i compared. Just some new strings for newer chipsets.

I then made a roll-back to the old 13.6.0.1002 driver via device manager. The HDDs spun down after 30 minutes, everything normal.

To rule out that the 14.0.0.1143 drivers actually require the RST software to function properly, i installed the whole RST 14.0.0.1143. But with that, there is another problem, so i couldn't analyze the original problem further. The RST software keeps polling the SMART data from the HDDs and thus prevents them from spinning down anyway.

In Process Monitor, it looks like so:

  1. 23:21:55,2169899IAStorDataMgrSvc.exe 4880CreateFile \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 SUCCESS DesiredAccess:GenericRead/Write,Disposition:Open,Options:Synchronous IO Non-Alert,Non-DirectoryFile,Attributes: n/a,ShareMode:Read,Write,AllocationSize: n/a,OpenResult:Opened

So i uninstalled RST and went back to the 14.0 F6 drivers only for analyzing. But no matter what i tried, even setting the spin-down to 1 minute in the power management, the HDDs won't spin down with the new driver.

I read a bit more about the mechanism here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/c/5/9c5b2167-8017-4bae-9fde-d599bac8184a/Disk_Idle_Detection.doc

Apparently the power manager, after the defined time, sends a request packet to the disk driver, asking for the HDD to go from D0 state (fully on) to D3 state (standby, stop spinning). Then the disk driver should convert this packet into an ATA command, telling the drive to enter standby. But from what i see, the drive never receives this command with the RST 14.0. When i roll back to 13.6.0.1002, it works fine again. With the 14.0, no go, i tried everything. And contrary to when you install the full RST software, with just the F6 driver there is also no SMART data polling that could interrupt things.

I'm at a loss here. Sadly i don't have the "PwrTest" tool from the Windows Driver Kit to test the mechanisms any further. But i'm hoping for someone else to know what's going on, or at least reproduce this possible bug.

Re-create raid 1

Hi Everyone

I recently created a raid 1 set on my gigabyte motherboard GA-H97M-D3H

However the motherboard ended up being replaced 3 months later as it was faulty.

I now have a replacement board and want to re-create my raid 1 set again however Im not 100% sure how to do this

Both disks are basic and Im missing the option to keep existing data using Intel RST 14.5

My end game is to re-raid both of these disks without data loss

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

My Query is quiet weird but I want to go ahead with my research or Try.

I have latest i7 5500 hp laptop (p212nx), I have dual booted it with Windows 7 and original 8.1 simultaneously.

Now  I want to try install XP over it adding to additional booting.

I tried to use (Fernando's Moded AHCI SATA driver Integration during F6 it asked for Selection by Hitting "S".

But later on the next screen doesnot display any driver its only blank. asking to select the driver or F3 or escape.

I am attaching the f6flpy drivers downloaded for the chipset which are without txtsetup.oem.

I am little confused.

Please help.

Thanks,

How Do I expand a RAID10 array

I have a server with (4) 150G HDD's in a RAID10 configuration.  I need to increase the capacity of the drive.  I have installed 4 new 1TB HDD's.  I rebuilt each new HDD as I added it.  At this time, the RAID is  normal (not degraded) but the  total array size is still 300G.  There are 2 partitions C: and D:   How do I increase their site.  Because of the partitions, this cannot be done in Windows Disk Manager.   The server has the Intel IHC8R/ICH9R controller and is using the Intel Matrix Storage Console v7.8.  See attached screen  shot.

I would appreciate some help.

Does C222 chipset with RSTe support GPT partitions?

I am working with supermicro board  X10SLL-F, which has a C222 chipset. I've spent all day trying to get it to recognize two 4TB drives in a RAID-1 configuration and was not successful. (http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/C220/X10SLL-F.cfm)

I see from some other posts on the community here, that RSTe can support GPT but it depends on the chipset. Does anyone know if C222 chipset support GPT when using RSTe in raid 1. I am using the driver (DriverVer=02/12/2015,4.2.0.1136) loaded while installing windows 7.

Thanks!

Intel Rapid Start Drivers

$

I have tried asking in Toshiba forums, manufacturer of the laptop, but I have not had any luck; therefore, I'll try seeing if anyone has any suggestions in here since the root of the issue is finding a driver that is compatible with the Intel infrastructure to see the drives during a Windows 7 installation.

I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite U845-S406, that has a Hitachi 500 GB SSD drive and a SanDisk 32 GB SSD drive (as seen by the BIOS).  From what I am reading in the Toshiba forums.  The drives are in a RAID configuration and the 500GB uses the 32 GB as a swap drive.  In the BIOS, it says that the system is using the Intel Rapid Start Technology.  There are no options to switch the drives from IDE, SATA or RAID; therefore, I am restricted on the drive configuration.

The system was initially getting BSOD on the IASTOR.SYS while using Windows 7.  It progressively got worse to where the system was not usable.  I thought it might be a rootkit; therefore, I backed up what data I could and then tried to use the recovery partition on the drive.  It came back with the same BSOD.  Safe mode same thing.  I wiped the drives of all data and partitions using GParted (Linux based).  I tried to install Windows 7 but none of the RAID drivers from the Toshiba site are working.  They will either show no drives or produce a BSOD on IASTOR.SYS.

My question for the Intel Community is how do I find out what Intel driver works with this system?  Is there a bootable utility that will show me this?  I am not sure what else to try.  I have tried to install Windows 8 and Windows 10 thinking that maybe they would have more recent drivers that would be compatible but have had no luck.  What puzzles me is how can I see the drives with GParted but I cannot see them with Windows installation?  I have even tried to install Linux on the system but it cannot see the drives.  For some reason only, GParted has something that allows it to see the drives.

Issues with downloading drivers for Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset

i have been struggling with updating my drivers for my Intel(R) G41 Express Chip set. i have downloaded the newest driver for OS: Windows 7 as a zip file onto my computer.

When i click set-up i get an error prompt saying this computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Could it be because my OS is Windows 10?

The current drivers that are installed for Intel(R) G41 Express Chipset are for windows XP. Any advice ?

Unsure on what's the latest version of Intel Management Engine for a Z77 motherboard

Hello, I've got an ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard with an Intel core i7-3770K CPU. I installed Windows 10 Pro x64 and was wondering what's the latest version of the Intel Management Engine driver...

Searching for Z77 this version comes up: MEI_allOS_1.5M_8.1.40.1416;

Searching for management, that's the latest version: ME_Win10_1.5M_11.0.0.1158;

On the ASUS website, that's the latest version available for the latest Windows: MEI_Win8-1_VER95101658_1-5M.

As you can see these are all different so I was wondering what's the latest compatible version for: Windows 10 x64 and a Z77 chipset together.

P.S. Other than the Intel Management Engine, what other things should I install after a fresh install of Windows? (for example, the iGPU, etc...)

Thanks and have a nice day

Rapid Storage Email - No Authentication? REALLY?

Does Intel really think there are still lots of SMTP servers out there that don't require authentication?

I went to setup the email notifications in the Rapid Storage Technology software today after recently having a drive fail in the array and found no way to enter a username and password for the SMTP server to send through it...

Really? SERIOUSLY?

That's stupid...Does anyone know of alternate software (from Intel or not) to manage an Intel controlled array with PROPER email notification setup?

Thanks!

I have Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) RAID Driver 12.9.0.1001 installed and have a longstanding issue of not being able to have my PC resume from sleep or hibernate mode. Periodically I update drives to stay current and see if it addresses this issue. I am trying to upgrade to Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) RAID Driver 14.5.0.1081 but it fails with the error "Fatal error during installation."

I am running Windows 8.1 x64 and an Asus P8P67 DELUXE with the P67 Chipset, driver 6.3.9600.17238. I tried running the Intel Driver Update Utility 2.2 that finds the Intel Chipset Device Software 10.0.27, but it fails to install too.

Anyone have ideas?

Windows 8.1 64bit PRO updated to Windows 10 PRO - Intel Rapid Start Technology 3.0.0.1053_WHQL

I see this irstrtsv error in the Event Viewer.

id event 0

The description for Event ID 0 from source irstrtsv cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer, or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

irstrtsv
"Error: Unable to read LBA sector directly. : The parameter is incorrect."

I do not see a performance issue due to the error.

This irstrtsv error occurs when the system starts, there is a cluster of 5 errors repeats every 5 minutes with another cluster of 5 irstrtsv errors and continues until I shut it down.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall intel rapid start software but always with the same result.

Hi,

i am using 3d studio max with v-ray engine for architecture modeling and rendering based on CPU, i use several PC - all intel I7, 4790K, 3930K and 4930K, the technology of rendering depends on using the threads of CPU, each Threads give me a bucket for rendering, it mean more threads, less time for render,  and i use network render, to use more threads, and i search there and there to know the different between the xeon and I7, but i confused, i want to built new workstaion with 2 CPU xeon, and my i need help to let me choice, i need to reach the speed of 4970K with more cores in xeon, how can i compare in speed , and the speed in I7 comparing wuth xeon, i never find xeon with 4 to 4.4 Ghz , but in I7 the 4970K is 4 to 4.4 Ghz, so it is useful to get less speed in xeon? i will feel slow rendering time with xeon ? for single CPU, i need help really ,,,

thanks and regards

How do I increase the size of a RAID 10 array

I have a server with a RAID10 array.  It was setup using the Intel Matrix Storage software.  There are (4) 160G Seagate drives configured for a total of 300G.   The current drive has two partitions of 45G and 255G and the 45G partition only has about 7G of free space.  I would like to know the process to increase the size of the array.

Any help would be appreciated.
